Book 8 Wishlist: Question #1

OK. Fine. I'll admit it. I want some kind of situation with Bree and Roger. Bree loses her job? Nah. A problem with their kids? ZZZ. Nono - what I want to see is quite simple:

One of them has an admirer.

What say YOU?

POST Scriptum: Let me clarify. I don't just want an admirer... I want someone to "test their love" as Jenn M has so eloquently put it in the past.

Post Scriptum Scriptum: I dinna mean "What do you think will happen". I mean "What would you like to see happen?" It. Could. Be. Anything!  Be creative lads and lassies! :)

  1. Carol - I think it's one of them goes back and the other either doesn't know yet, or doesn't want them to go, or doesn't want to go themselves. Yet...Jemmy is gone, so there must be a conflict. They cannot take Mandy back...or CAN THEY??? See...I think it will play out like that.

  2. How 'bout this... they find out that Jem isn't gone, and somehow Roger doesn't go either BUT, Bree keels that Rob guy who kidnapped Jem in the first place (or maybe Jem kills him...) ANYWAY - the only way to avoid going on trial for murder is to go back through the stones!!!!!

AHHH - it's SO good to be back! Been having major 'puter/internet issues. Probably still do but we'll see...

  3. Well, hasn't William Buccleigh been in town for awhile? Maybe he had met Rob Cameron and they both know about the gold!Maybe William Buccleigh's part was to get Roger out of the way while Cameron went after the kids. Roger went back but WB did not. Bree realizes that the only way to keep the kids safe is to go back and find Jamie and Roger. Then..does WB and Cameron follow them back? We need an evil villan ala Bonnet to stress us out again! On a side note, I got my bracelet from etsy today and it is great!Nice substantial bracelet and I love the toggle clasp. The price is going up so anyone who wants one should order it now!.

  4. Carol,
Hasn't that already "been there done that". Roger had his lady Amy McCullan that was digging him on the ridge and Brianna had Bonnett, Creepy kid at the school (can't remember his name) and bad boy Rob Cameron after her. Do you mean that you want Bree or Roger to reciprocate feelings back to the admirer?

What I most look forward to in book 8 is more about Frank... what did he know?

  5. Yes Sally - YES! I totally agree about Frank, too. Lots of been there, done that. Let's see something new! Squeee!

  6. Carol, I just saw your Post Script...so you want someone to "test their love". Hum, I can only go for that if its Brianna getting tested. I mean, poor Roger, he's done enough stupid things (kiss your g-g-grandmother on the lips in front of her husband, hang out at a young widow's house, messed up a million times on miscellaneous Ridge handyman stuff)etc... I want good things to happen to him. I want him to be really successful at something in his own right. Now if Bree made some stupid moves, maybe she'd be more human in my eyes and less of a super woman (not that I dislike that about her, mind you).

I hope the MacKenzies go back in Book 8. I think one of them is already there. I bet Roger "followed" Jem through, but then finds out Jem isn't there. But they belong in the 20th century... Its a quandry.

  7. Has it been completely established that Jamie cannot go through the stones???? What I would love to see is Claire bringing Jamie to the 20th century....can you imagine his reaction to modern Scotland or America...I think it would be hilarious....

  8. Tanning cream. Lee Ann - you have touched on a subject I love. And yes - from what I know - Diana has said Jamie will never, ever, ever go through the stones. But my god - if he did - can you IMAGINE his reaction to TANNING CREAM?!?

Oh Sally - thanks for being so flexible. I keep throwing stuff at you in my incoherent state (I'm soooo tired - I don't know what I'm even typing at this point! LOL) and you just keep coming back with awesome commentary! If Bree made some bonehead moves, she might be a little more acceptable in a way. I love it! She needs to be brought down a notch, does she not?

PS - I love Buck. I canna help it. I loathed him beyond belief because of the hanging incident... but now - all has been forgiven. I want more of him him in the 20th century. Morag can handle life without him for a little longer, right?!

  9. Lee Ann - yes, Diana has been VERY clear on that point. Jamie will never, ever time-travel, under any circumstances, because he lacks the time-travel gene. You can fantasize about this all you want :-) but it's not going to happen in the books, ever.

  10. Sometimes I think that's one reason HERSELF had Buck travel--so that the reader could get a sense of what the experience of traveling forward would be like for someone in the 1700s without having it actually be Jamie.

As for Jamie time-traveling--I would guess that it's 99.9999 percent certain that he'll never do it (and quite frankly, I wouldn't want him to, curious about his reactions to everything as I am)--but I do remember reading Diana saying in the Outlandish Companion that she would never allow the characters to be illustrated...and flash forward 11-ish years to the graphic novel! ;-) Still, I think the "no time travel for Jamie" is about as certain a statement as anyone will ever make..

  11. #1 on my Wish List is MORE FERGUS! I'm sure that his French parentage will come into play, just as the Revolution starts kicking in. I'd love him to come into a fortune, go back to France to get it (sorry Tracey!), have a wild narrow escape getting back out of France before the Revolution, and live happily ever after in Philadelphia with tons of money.
    Just my Dream. :-)

  12. I do think Roger goes back and William B doesn't - he probably helps Brianna with Rob. They find Jem and Brianna panicks - reads all the letters and one is from Roger!!! So then she takes the kids and goes back. Maybe during this whole thing something could spark between her and william B in the heat of trouble or something - but I don't think I would really like that. My wish story lies with William Ramsome!!!!!!! Yum Yum!!! Jamie all over again!!! A great love story please!!!!!

  13. I'm with Alessandra, I want LJ to find someone. I feel so bad for him, all his love affairs go so wrong (Percy, for example). As for Roger, Bree, Jem and Mandy, something has to happen with them and the stones, because otherwise there'd be no conflict/problems for them. Maybe only Jem goes back, and we get to hear about him growing up during the revolution. And some of the letters are from grown up Jem!!! I agree with the comments re Roger and Bree - I'm tired of hearing how perfect she is at everything and how Roger can't do anything. Roger needs to finally come into his own.

  14. I hope that the Mackenzies go back through the stones whether together or separately. I think it'll be a case of they have no option due to the situation Rob Cameraon has put them in.

I'm probably by myself on this one but I don't want Rob dead just yet. I'd love for Rob to find the place where the gold should have been in the 20th century but instead of the the gold there a "Sorry mate I already took it" letter from Roger & Bree!

  15. Yes J-Dub! I want Roger to truly come into his own too. I have to say that I cannot imagine a greater test than traveling through the stones, suffering Brianna's rape and being father to a child you suspect isn't yours - and knowing that Stephen Bonnet was still pillaging up a storm out there! Plus, having to deal w/Himself's amazingness, being a fish out of water, losing his voice and talent (snif :-() and the Amy situation - nae, sometimes I feel like they've been put through so much! I think this latest twist w/Jem is enough for me :-)
I also love that we get Jamie's reactions on our present day through his vision-like dreams, and conversations - I still laugh when I think of him sending his regards to Michael Mouse...

  16. I like the idea of Brianna and Roger's love being tested AGAIN. I think Bree should be tempted with someone she thinks is her "grand passion" like Jamie was to her mother and get her thinking that maybe Roger is just a boring historian/minister. Then, he does something amazing (grand gesture) to make her realize she already has everything she could ever want.

  17. Bretam, I agree with you I need more William Fraser!
OMG...I am absolutely in love with William Ramsome (Fraser)! :)
Can you imagine... he is a manly man like Jamie, but he was raised by LJ (so he also has LJ's finess!)??? SOUNDS PERFECT to me!
I almost don't want him to meet anyone because I want him for myself!

  18. Not sure how many of you are readers of the LJ books (as this may not make sense for those who aren't)--but my end of series wish for my bestie LJ is that Stephan's wife, the Princess So-and-so, meets some nebulous, painless end, freeing him up for him and LJ to live happily ever after. From the moment we meet Stephan in B of the B and again in the Hand of Devils, I've always thought he's the ONE person who could take the place of Jamie in LJ's heart. They just seem to have this connection/spark--and Stephan is very Jamie-esque physically (with the bigness and all). Keeping my fingers soooooo crossed that our LJ can finally find some happiness before this series is done....

  20. I wouldn't say that this is a "wish", but I expect that book 8 will have some sort of BAAADDD thing happening to William (Ransome). Each of the main characters has had something truly bad happen to them (Jamie, nuff said; Claire, the abduction/rape; Roger, the hanging; Bree, the rape.) We've been able to see how they each work through these events, as well as how everyone around them responds as well - so I'm predicting that it's William's turn.

As for a wish for book 8, I'd love to have more more more of Jamie's perspective. Frankly, that's why I'm looking forward to Scottish Prisoner (in addition to lots of LJ!)

  21. I've never been able to get into the LJ books. Would you recommend them? Maybe I haven't given them a chance. I need Jamie all the time not just a mention here or there. I know at my library all the Gabaldon books are always checked out or on hold and the LJ books have multiple copies that just collect dust.

  25. so I'm a little behind with the blogs...only recently found it :) In book 8 I think something with Roger's dad will come into play. too much mysteriousness (actually a word?) surrounding his death. perhaps he'll show up? And the business about Randall-Isaacs has peaked my interest as well. Love me some Jamie Fraser though...
