Sittin' in a Tree
K-I-S-S-I-N-G
First comes love...
Then comes marriage...
Then comes schtupping in a potting shed!!!
DAMN, boyfriend...you sure know how to make an entrance!!! For a minute there, I thought I was back in Lazarevo!! (Bronze Horseman by Paullina Simons reference. If you havena read it...GET ON IT.)
And isn't it just like Miss Herself to sneak that up on us like a rainstorm in the desert. (Better put an extra S on that because it's more like DESSERT!)
Elfreth's Alley. Recognize. |
So where am I now? Bree just found Jem. Thank GOD. I was on the edge of my seat for that little roller coaster ride. That poor kid. He is NINE! Just like my own son. I swear, I was tearing up in the salon chair yesterday during my partial foil! That poor soul was just wandering around IN THE DARK (sung like Billy Squier). I was a puddle the entire time I was waiting for my vanilla creme glaze to kick in. Can you imagine?? That little guy dealing with those crazy-assed machines...and the stairs...and the possibility of getting sucked back to the 18th century. What a ride!!!
See Rob rub. Rub, Rob, rub. |
And Roger. Poor Roger. :( Oh I am sick for him. He is - and always will be - Job. I went from "Ugh...I already read about Roger and Buck trekking across the countryside and trying to get back" to "Holy shit, Roger's the most interesting thing in this friggin book! And that's saying something because every storyline is on fire!!"
Brian Fraser. BRIAN FUCKING FRASER. I shat my pants on the spot when he appeared at the friggin door. Diana Gabaldon, man. She is the shiz!!! WHAT a gift for us!!! I wanted to stand up in the salon chair and go "WUH WUH WUH" with my fist like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. And
Brian WHAT?!? |
OK - enough of my rambling. Later, y'all. I have to go read.
Post Scriptum: Isn't DG a sly one with flipping back and forth between worlds? I had forgotten how maddening, yet delicious it is when you get SO into one storyline...find yourself in the other world and think "Oh crap"...and a few paragraphs later are completely and utterly immersed in THAT world...and never want to leave.
LOL! I am loving these blog posts. I have a few scenes in my mind that I can't wait for you to get to. MOBY is a real roller-coaster.
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! I so love you and your reactions! At. The . salon! I felt the same though!! Brian Fraser!!! How cool is that!?! I was reading it in the middle of the night...hitting my pillow...wsnnting to wake up my husband and yell at him...BRIAN FRASER!!!! But that would not have ended happy
ReplyDeleteThe best......

ReplyDeleteLove how you're blogging your read, Carol. That moment when Roger met Brian Fraser made me sit up and yell, "Holy Crap!! I didn't see THAT coming!". Snaps all around for Herself's wonderful imagination. Other things I enjoyed were Bree's smackdown of that jerk Rob Cameron and thinking about how readers are going to flock to Bartrams Gardens (sp?) (and it is a real place, right) looking for The Potting Shed! Keep reading!
ReplyDeleteI just LOVED the part when Bree went commando on Rob Cameron.
ReplyDeleteRob Cameron in the hide-de-hole. Carol, girl, You ain't seen nothin' yet
B-b-b-baby, you just ain't seen n-n-nothin' yet
There's something, there's something your never gonna forget
baby, you know, you know, you know you just ain't seen nothin' yet.
You may need a Valium or a couple of drinks for when Bree comes back....
Clarification: It was pointed out to me that "Bree going commando" would most likely be taken differently than I intended. I was meaning "commando" as in a person trained or skilled in carrying out raids. Not the definition that I recently learned by looking up "going commando" on wikipedia. Sorry for the confusion. Hey I learn something new every day.
DeleteHi Carol,
ReplyDeleteUh huh, Uh huh, Uh huh, nodding madly at everything you've said. And it just gets betterer and betterer, that's my new word for today.
Brymen you got me singing that tune now :-)
:-)
That was just the first thing that came to mind when I realized that Carol didn't know what happened when Bree came back home and looked in the hide-de-hole. (That's how I would say it because I'm from the south.) It was at that point that I got the most creepy feeling in the entire book. I actually said out loud, "Where the f*$# is he?". Then I proceeded to read as fast as I could.
DeleteYeah, this is quite a ride! Promise no spoilers, it's just that I finished a couple of days ago, and really can't get into reading anything else. I'm still just contemplating the awesomeness of this book. I don't know if I want to read anything else. I'm sure something awesome will come along, but even if it does, I don't know that I want MOBY fading from my mind.
ReplyDeleteJeni, I know just what you are saying. I don't want to start something else with the Outlander Premier less than 5 weeks away. (Yes, I counted the days.) Before the release of MOBY I started with Outlander and read everything over once again. Just so it would all be fresh. So I was searching YouTube to perhaps watch some interviews with Herself that I had not seen before when SHA-ZA-AM! I discovered the Tracey and Carol or Carol and Tracey videos on "The Exile." As always the video is humorous, insightful, and witty. I made it to the second video and had to stop and run get my copy of the book, dust it off, get ready to count pages. When Carol says page 3, it isn't the same as in the Paul Harvey broadcasts. You better be flippin' them pages and hang on for a great introduction and background to the novel. Now I have to read it again, because they bring up some great questions that I need to think about. These videos (there are 5 total) have everything from power failures and sound effects from God (thunder). Keep an eye out for when, as Carol says, Tracey "goes all psychedelic" on us. In my opinion a great way to spend some more time in the Outlander universe!
DeleteI need to watch some of the videos. I came to MOP really late in the game, like a few months ago. Stumbled across it looking for Outlander Series stuff, and have been making my way through the old blogs. I recently (well, o.k., 2yrs ago) re read the whole series because we were going to Scotland and I wanted to make sure I saw key things in Edinburgh, and just kind of get in the Scottish mood. I'm amazed at all the little side plots I had forgotten. After reading MOBY, I totally understand why it took 4 yrs to write. There are so many sub plots that are really like whole novels, each with an amazing amount of research and detail. Hmm. Maybe I should go back to the beginning of the series and read it as a companion to the Starz series........
DeleteOne good thing about "The Exile" is that it is set during the same time period of "Outlander" (the book). I only found My Outlander Purgatory with in the past few weeks also, when I stumbled upon some of the entertaining Tracey and Carol videos. I can't wait until they get started making some MOBY videos. Although Carol's blogs are great, we are missing Tracey's input and of course pocket Jamie!
DeleteLOL! You're hillarious! Would you let me know when we can talk about a desk :) Thanks.
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to say Jenny is definetily older than Jamie. She must be closer to 19 there.
ReplyDeleteHow about this article from back in April ...

Damnit, you're messing with my schedule. Close to finishing Echo for the first time and was torn, to start MOBY at the end or go back to my planned reread of Bk1, aiming to finish before the series premiere .... but you've sold me. MOBY or bust. (It's the shtupping in the shed that got me LOL)
ReplyDeleteI've finished MOBY and loved it! I can't wait to read the rest of your reactions! I'm stumbling around looking for another good series to read. I need suggestions. I'm afraid of being disappointed since I started the Outlander series. It's honestly the best I've ever read. I have read the Ice and Fire series by George R.R. Martin and The Gentlemen Bastard series by Scott Lynch. The Gentlemen Bastard series is by far the most hilarious series I've read in a long time. Of of course I'm in the holding pattern with everyone else waiting for the next book releases in both of those. Open to just about any genre at this point as long as its good.
ReplyDeleteThe Bronze Horseman is the only thing that rivals Outlander

ReplyDeleteHi Carol, love the Lazarevo reference there because let's face it... I don't believe anything can ever top Lazarevo - except maybe Bartrams Gardens... the wedding night in Outlander... the stables (oh the stables) in FC or DOA (can't remember now)... and any other time Shura and Tatia get down to it.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sad I'm almost finished Written in My Own Heart's Blood. What am I supposed to do now?
