  3. OMG!
I made a mention in the vid!!!
Y'all have made my entire life meaningful. Seriously. I can die a happy woman. :)

Oh, yeah, speaking of Davina Porter... I think I read on compuserve that she was listed in the Outlander Companion on a genealogical chart as Brian Fraser's mother. (Can't fact check this :( since I don't own that particular book) Anyway - how cute is that! Jamie's gramma is the voice on his books!!!!

  4. Yay for more videos! You two are great. Keep them coming. We don't care what you talk about!

Totally agree with Tracey that DiA is so much better the second time. My favorite parts (now) are the conversations right before the seen with wee Kitty, where we hear about Jamie and Ian learning to fight and the conversation between Jamie and Ian before they leave with the army. SO much more significance now after reading a certain conversation in Echo (sob).

  5. Part 1 comments: Mr. Husbandwhodoesn'treadoutlander says from across the kitchen, "Hey, we have Kit Kitredge!" then goes on to agree with you about what a good movie it is (bad mom fell asleep on the couch on that family movie night....). And I agree with you 150% on the Twilight movies - the first is by far my fave. Now on to part 2...

  6. Part 2 comments: So, I read the excerpt aloud to hubby who listened raptly to every word. He just walked off muttering, "now I gotta see what happens...who was that guy?"

You don't like the Lord John books? Really?? I love her style in them - the language is concise and they move at a clip and I adore mysteries. I think Scottish Prisoner is gonna be awesome!!

I'm loving my DIA audio. How did I hate that first section so much the first time around? This time, I adored it! Thanks again for the link. My only complaint is that the reader sounds kinda old and that grosses me out a bit to think about when she's reading the bedroom scenes. Maybe even a bit more grossed out if she's supposed to be Jamie's GRANDMA! Yikes!

  8. I just stumbled on to your blog - LOVE IT! Carol - for your audio of any and ALL Gabaldon books, you should check out iOffer.com It's a wonderful site that let's you buy MP3s of the books for a fraction of the cost of the ones at the store. I'm sure you have an iPod, that is all you'll need. I have read and listened to all of the Outlander series on audio and you DO get a lot more out of the book when someone else is reading it to you. Same with Harry Potter (don't know if you are a fan). Anyhoo... love your blog, I'll be back!

  9. Welcome Jazzmomma! We're thrilled you are hanging with us! Oooh thanks - I have to try out this iOffer.com. I've never heard of it and I love finding new sites online! :) PS - Have seen the HP films but haven't read the books. Bad Carol!

  10. Carol!!!
Just saw on the Ladies of Lallybroch site that The Bronze Horseman movie is in production with projected release date of 2012 - Henry Cavill is set to play Alexander.
    Get reading, girlfriend... get reading

  11. Fellow South Beacher here, Tracey! I love the plan! It sounds like you survived Phase 1, so that's great. I felt like I was going to snap those first few days without sugar, but it is so liberating to not need sugar and bread and chocolate after going through those first 2 weeks. I feel like a new person these days. Good luck as you forge on!

And I too am loving DIA the second time around.

  12. Holy cow - so much to say. First off - Adventures North: I. Love. Your Husband. LOL! (That's a funny statement.) I just love that he doesn't roll his eyes and leave the room when we're on!!

Christie - I am starting The Bronze Horseman any day now - along with Shannon and Jenn M. (Tracey - we have to discuss this!) I am almost finished the Sugar script and can now start something new. It has helped SO MUCH that I'm listening to DinA. I listened last night while folding laundry!! Drunken Jamie who swears he's not drunk? Oh god - how much do I love this man? I am in such need of 2012 to get here. I hear the Mayans predicted Jamie Fraser would be back in all his glory in 2012. Yup. ;)

Stephanie - yey for you watching our videos! We can't ask for more than that! :)

  14. Anonymous - I TOTALLY agree. I liked the excerpt because it was alllll Jamie babyyyy!!!! :)

  15. Oh no, he doesn't roll his eyes and leave. I think perhaps he loves you gals, too! And I know that he secretly loves Outlander. Now how to get him to admit it....

Good luck on the Bronze Horseman. I read it last summer and thought it was a snooze. The next one I picked up was "The Last Kingdom" which is the first book in the Saxon Tales (about the Viking invasions on England in the Middle Ages). It was great - am reading the second one right now. I say bypass the BH and go directly to those or Harry Potter (-:

Oh, just thought of another - I liked The Fever series as well. Not nearly as much as Twilight or Outlander, but it got me by. And much better than the Bronze Horseman (zzzzzzzz).

  16. I just read the excerpt. I loved it! I am only on snow and ashes so I haven't heard a ton of William yet but I could have sworn he didn't have red hair. din't he have the same color as his mother.

  17. OoOO It is all your fault! I broke down and read the excerpt. Being a no spoiler girl it was a difficult decision. It left me with a feeling of I WANT MORE!!!! See what you have done to me?

  18. Tony Blair? Seriously?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Yes! Tony Blair! Tracey loves him. She just thought he was completely dreamy when he was in office - in a nerdy sort of way. ;)

  20. Carol you need to read other excerpts from the SP. There are some that make me want to cry because Jamie is hurting so much. There is one where Jamie is trying to get it on with himself just to hold onto a dream of Claire.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Oh my GOD Elizabeth - really??? Oh damn. You had me at "get it on with himself".

    (LOL!Damn I am obnoxious sometimes.)

Yeah. I'll be reading that. Mmm hmmm.

  22. The fact that Tracey thinks Tony Blair is hot just made my day- I'm in a similar boat in that I've been crushing so hard on Stephen Colbert lately! I recently told a coworker that my two big crushes right now are Alexander Skarsgard and Stephen Colbert, and of course she gave me a look like "Colbert??? Really??? How dare you use his name in the same sentence as Skarsgard!"
Anyhoo, enough of my random story...you guys cracked me up, as usual :)

  23. Bri--I tend to have what I call "nerd girl" crushes (think Bill Nye the Science Guy or Robert Reich) that are more based in intellect and less based in physical attributes. Tony Blair, however, is allllllll about the voice. Oooo-y.

As for Mr. Blair...let's just say that the one time I was ever in London, I made my DH wait outside Downing St. for half an hour (they have it gated off so you can't get to #10--effing terrorists!) to see if my lovah Tony would show. (Have I mentioned that my DH is verra patient?) And any movie in which Michael Sheen is PLAYING Tony Blair is a movie I'm seeing. :-)
