  1. The dialogue between LJG and the Captain was the BEST in the season! OMG, Dave Berry is AMAZING!!

    2. I Third that. Best scene in the show.
But, again, Jamie is a bystander in his own story.
I hope when the next series is aired, someone remembers to write a part for Sam. This season, we get that Claire loves Jamie. But we don’t get why.

    3. Jeannie, I agree with you 100 percent . Sam’s scenes were so much more powerful in the first couple of episodes when he didn’t share a screen with Claire. Episode 304, Helwater, will always have a special place in my heart. Jamie riding off to the beautiful Dylan song almost did me in. They should adapt The Scottish Prisoner , we would get so much delightful interactions between Jamie and LJG. I would so watch this show.

  2. I saw something from Starz about season 5 stating they were hoping for a shorter “Droughtlander”. So, I believe it’s happening! Also, at the end of the finale, there was a short clip from season 4 and it said it was coming in 2018. So, we won’t have to wait too long. Woohoo!

Thanks for the entertaining recaps and I will miss you guys. I’ll be thinking of Tom and will pray for continuing recovery.

I could swear the end of book 3 they are on the beach with the man saying they were in Georgia. At the time I read the book, I thought that would be a good way to end an episode. I was thinking it should be made into a TV series. Little did I know!! 🙂

I love to talk with you two about episodes in real time. A lot of fans I think would enjoy participating in the chats. Fun idea Carol!

    God bless and Merry Christmas.

  3. What a roller coaster this season has been, from the beginning to the end. I have, again, enjoyed my time with you two. You put things in perspective and pick up on things I may have missed. I second having a meet and greet, cocktails and discussion with the two of you. That would be a blast! Carol, I am so thrilled with how your year is ending, personally. I hope you guys and your families have a blessed holiday season and, hopefully, we will hear from you again soon!

  5. Good morning! I love you two !!!!!!
I wanted to comment on Mr.W. & M at the "dance" .... At the ball, do you recall the comment the "evil bro" made as his sister was doing a reading of one of the "servants" ? I think that laid the groundwork for the two new lovers to be at the clearing. I don't think it was Maggie's first time there.... What do you think?

  6. As far as season finales go, I thought this was the best one to date. To me, the scene were Claire underwater and her commentary, Jamie rescuing her were beautifully done. Wow.

I was relieved the crocodile didn't make the cut! And the St. Elmo's fire in the book would have likely not worked on film so wasn't sad to not see that.

Thanks so much for all your long hours and hard work making these recaps. Great job!

  7. Great recap of ep313, ladies! Am I the only person who thought that the reason the Georgia couple abruptly walked away is because they thought if they didn't their daughter would be getting an anatomy lesson for which she was too young? I thought Jamie and Claire's chemistry frightened them away. LOL.

Wishing you both a happy healthy holiday!

    1. Andrea, I had the same thought! After figuring out where they were, Jamie and Claire were in a world of their own! I was waiting for the couple to covers their daughter’s eyes as they turned away! 😂

  8. I am so glad Tracey got her her scene because it is one of my favorites too!

Wishing y'all a Merry Christmas and a HEALTHFUL New Year

    1. I think that scene may have been done because it is one of Diana G.'s favorite sex scenes she has written, and she refers to it sometimes in her talks, when discussing how to write a steamy scene! I bet she wanted it in there.

  9. Thank yo so much, girls! I look forward to these recaps after each episode!

I didn’t have a problem with the suddenness of Mr. W and Margaret either. Two very lonely souls found each other.

I have to confess that I love LJG so much more in the show! There were times in the books that I would skim over his parts-maybe now that I have TV John, I should try reading his novellas, too.

I have a question for book readers: I have read the first three books MANY times and reread them before each new season. I am debating on whether or not to reread Drums. It wasn’t one of my favorite books, and I’m wondering if I will enjoy the show even more if I’m not constantly comparing the two. Maybe just let the story go wher the writers take me? What do you think?

    1. I am with you Librolover. I agree regarding Mr. W and Margaret and skimming through LJG conversations in the books but now that I have an unbreakable vision in my head (thank you David B.) I might now read the novellas re LJG.

  10. Hello! I'm relatively new to the series. I've spent the past few months devouring Outlander and Dragonfly in Amber in order to catch up the season finale of Voyager. You guys are great! Thank you for your reviews. You always help me see things I missed (Jaime and Claire have a fresh start when they wash up in Georgia! *Lightbulb). But there were a couple of things that left me wondering.

LJG coming to Jaime's defense against the Captain. Was a bit too much like a pissing contest, but of course he's going to help him. I mean those longing stares! LJG looks at Jaime like Claire does at the Printshop. But then Jaime just awkwardly gets up and leaves! That poor man! I was waiting for Jaime to kiss him on the cheek or something! And yes, Carol, I could see the Captain making a reappearance in later episodes.

And sorry Tracey, I didn't get the love scene towards the end. The producers seem to be pretty strategic about how they use a love scene and I just didn't see the purpose. It felt like we just had turtle soup and this being the season finale I felt it wasn't needed. Don't get me wrong I always love intimate Jamie and Claire scenes, but it felt a little disconnected from the episode overall.

I am really interested to learn more about time travel. I was so excited to hear Brianna come through to Jaime and Claire, and was on the edge of my seat to see if she would come through the portal or if Claire would go back to her. I thought for sure someone was coming or someone was going . So that left me a little disappointed that Geillis is dead and that story is closed. On the other hand, it was fascinating to see Claire put the pieces together with the skeleton. Do you think that's how she knew it was a murder (back with Joe in the hospital), because she knew that her future/past self is the one who did it?

So thanks again! Keep up the good work, and I look forward to future droughtlander videos!

  11. I absolutely loved with the Finale. In Matt Roberts and Toni Graphia we trusted and boy did they deliver !!!! I also very unexpectedly got my favourite scene. I am with you Tracy, loved every single second of the intimate scene on the boat. It made this fangirl very, very happy. The underwater scene was one of my favourites as well and Bear’s score just added the final perfect touch . I didn’t see it as Jamie making out with Claire, I was assuming it was an attempt to give her air. Maybe I am wrong. Nevertheless...beautifully done.
This is my first season with you ladies but I have to say that I find myself looking forward to your videos. Always laughing out loud with you to the point where my husband and teenage kids rush in to see if I am OK. Will miss all that interaction during the dreadful Droughtlander.
Thank you for your time commitment and devotion to my favourite show on TV.
    With Love,
    Martina in Alaska

    2. I've watched A Place to Call Home and have really enjoyed it. Love the big historic house they use to film it and all the Australian atmosphere. David Berry is really great in the series as well. I found the first three series the best and the fourth one has started to get more soapy. It's available on Acorn tv. There is also a free trial period.

  13. I find it difficult to understand how Claire could have survived under water for that long, and till washing up on the shore, even with Jamie's kiss of air. The storm certainly abated in a matter of seconds as soon as they came to the surface. I can't remember if the pond portal in Abandawe was in the book. The stones above the cave looked ominous. Wonder if they'll be used in the future.

  14. Hey ladies, I was a redhead and now that I am older my hair turned blonde not gray. I hear this is very common and saves me a lot of money. Someone on set must know this. Hope you don't stay away too long. Love you guys/1

  15. Tracey, about your thoughts on the final book ...... WHAT A STORY!!!!!! IMHO, that would be an amazing way to close the circles and tie things up with a great big bow!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for sharing your "spoiler" but not really a spoiler!! <3

  16. I keep hoping to see my favorite scene from book 1 brought back: The Grotto.

The seksy scene at the end gave me Jamie's wonderful humor, and my all time favorite line of his (paraphrasing) : "Now, when I do this, let's hear what sounds you DON'T make!"

    1. That was one of the most memorable scenes for me too. I can still remember where I was while i was reading it . Diana paints such a sensual picture which is imprinted on my brain. But alas Peige I don't think there is any hope in hell that we will see that scene, but we always have the books!

  17. I also really loved the long tracking shot at the end and you are right that the scene really portrayed the new freedom Claire and Jamie have with no one pursuing them.

I found the scene with Claire sinking very aesthetic but the practical side of my brain kept going "wait, how is the water so calm after the storm? How can Jamie see her in the water that far down? How could he hold his breath that long?" I can only conclude that his experience with holding his breath underwater at Lallybroch while fixing the mill wheel must have improved his lung capacity :)

Can't wait until next season! A couple of shows that would be good to recap during Droughtlander would be The Crown and also the Victoria series. Another good one - the mini series North and South (the British one set in the 1800's starring Richard Armitage, not the Civil War series by the same name). It's an awesome series.

I will miss the current series but now I can finish the Voyager book!

  18. Oh Tracey and Carol, I'm so glad you brought up Far and Away, one of my favorite movies ever! I think I've said before, don't you think Nicole Kidman's character in that movie is what Brianna should be like? That's more how she is written. Thanks for all of your hard work, just love listening to you guys!

  19. Hey Tracey and Carol. Thanks for a great season of recaps. Is there such a thing as DroughtMOP? MOPDrought? How about MOPdroughtlander? Anyway, thanks again for all the time you've put into these thoroughly insightful and entertaining videos. I look forward to them as much as I do the episodes.

Carol: That scene you are referring to took place in the very end of the book, where they are already rescued by the Oliviers and are in their home at Les Perles, although they don't really know where they are. Claire and Jamie are recused by them, while Claire is still unconscious and it is alluded to Jamie having been so exhausted that even he barely knows how they get to this house. But, he does know that the rest of the crew from the Artemis has been rescued and are being taken care of elsewhere. Jamie has bathed and Claire realizes that she has also been bathed by someone. Now my thoughts on this have always been...would you make love in a house where you don't know where the heck you are? So, I think I preferred the ending of them just being found on the beach.

Tracey: I agree that Claire does not actually belong in the 20th century either. What comes to mind is the story she tells about how it felt going through the stones the first time where she uses the car crash and flying though the air to describe it. They show her in the back seat of the car, as an adult, but I always thought it was weird she was in the back seat unless it was because she was remembering what happened as a child. So, maybe what she is actually remembering is going through the stones as a CHILD?

I just want to wish you both a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy new year.

  20. Tracey and Carol...again thank you for another great season and can't wait until season 4. Your recaps are fun and entertaining (yes, even the short West Side Story recap)!

Tracey, I believe Claire is more comfortable in the 18th century but had to stay in the 20th century so she can get her "nomad" living and training by Uncle Lam and of course her 20th century medical training. This training was meant to groom Claire for her time travel adventures and Jamie was groomed to love and protect her. Her full destiny is still yet to be revealed.

    Happy holidays and best wishes.
