ReplyDeleteI have been in love with this series since my introduction in the 90's.
I record the series and share with friends, popcorn included! Something has bugged all of us, and we all said the same thing "that is not Claire", then we decided to figure out why not? It boiled down to three things.
All through the books Claire's eyes have been described as Amber, Whiskey, a big Jungle Cat (by Phaedra to Jocasta) among others as well as unsettling, unnerving. The way she is perceived by others, and how she is treated, especially in the later books as a healer have a lot to do with how her eyes look. Also, Claire does not smirk or look smug when faced with danger or bodily harm (for instance with Jack Randall and the British in the first episodes). I'm hoping they CGI Claire's eye color, or put her in contacts. Very bright blue eyes just don't convey.
Diana Gabaldon is one of those rare writers that puts you "there" with the characters, in their environment to experience the story, not to just read the words. I so look forward to seeing her hand in the series, and April seems a very long way away.
