Thanks so much for all the wonderful recaps over the years - slow golf clap to you both! It really makes my week to listen to your banter and insights. I can’t believe there are no more episodes to look forward to. I’ll have to start reading more of the books as I didn’t want to come across spoilers for the show.
I really liked the inclusion of Jamie’s ghost and the tie in with the first episode. Also the blue flowers at the stones.
Re the battle, my emotions were really in turmoil as I was also saying why didn’t they search Ferguson for a weapon? Why weren’t his hands tied? Regarding the final gasp at the end, it reminded me of when Gandalf did a big gasp when he became Gandalf the White.
I laughed so much with you talking about all the Fanny crying scenes. I can picture her crying when she sees how white Claire’s hair is!
All the best to you both and I’ll watch out for any podcasts from you! — Ann
Started my journey with you when it was carols written recaps. The best. Hilarious ! Ended with y’alls last video recap. Well done. A joy to watch. What a journey. ( read the first book in 1993- so glad to have found my tribe )
Your videos have enriched the whole Outlander experience beyond words for this book reader and Starz watcher. If you need a diversion to fill the emptiness with the series finalized-might I suggest the Resident Alien series? It is a heartwarming exploration of what it means to become human -while exploring the importance of friendship and family in all of its manifestations and one of the most hysterically funny shows that exists. The characters are well developed and memorable. Good luck in your next adventures-and safe travels to Scotland.
Before there was the TV show, I bought the CD of the Outlander Musical. For me, it is close to perfect. I don't know if you can still buy it. I loved S1 of the show but have been disappointed with all other seasons. If you can, try to listen to musical CD. Would love to see it performed on stage.
I am so emotional right now. Like you, I watched every episode of Outlander from the first and the series often drove me crazy with its off-the-wall plot-lines and deviations from the books. But my heart pounded in anticipation every week before a new episode and left me reeling at the end of each episode. For me, despite the occasional weirdness, what grounded the whole thing was the eternally burning flame of the love between Jamie and Claire. I've often thought of them as immortals or demi-gods and your point of view brought that home to me that whether they live or die at the end is irrelevant because their love and their story will live on. The on-screen chemistry between Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe is unmatched in my view and every accolade must be given to them for bringing Jamie and Claire to life for all of us. I also wanted to give a shout-out to the cinematographer(s) for their lush visual imagery. You could freeze every frame of the series and it would look like a painting of that time period. Gorgeous! Last but not least I want to thank you, Tracey and Carol, for your hard work over the years, under some trying circumstances at times, to bring us your insights and analyses and humour. Slow golf-clap, fast-clap, all the claps to you!!! I will miss you.
Tracey, I think your reference to the ending of Hamilton was just what I needed. BEAVO! Thanks Ladies.

DeleteBees poem line is yeats from The Lake of Innsfree. “
ReplyDeleteNine bean-rows will I have there, a hive for the honey-bee;
And live alone in the bee-loud glade.
And I shall have some peace there, for peace comes dropping slow,”
