Thanks, Diana!

So I woke up to 8 inches of water in my basement yesterday. Which is the kids' play room. Faulty sump pump. And my 7 year old brought her Queen Elizabeth report back to me today after handing it in to her teacher because it didn't have a cover on it (a cover was NOT in the instructions, thankyouverramuch, and they're presenting them in class - in costume. A cover was the last thing on my mind). She then informed me she had to move her fish because one of the boys was poking her on the carpet when they were supposed to be paying attention - and of course, she retaliated and poked him back. (I'm half "YOU DID WHAT?" and half "THAT'S MY GIRL!" at this news). And to top ALL of that off, my courses will be dropping in on me any second, now, and I feel like I need a good cry.

Which is why I was floored, touched, flabbergasted and all-around thrilled to find out our Outlander videos have made it to Diana Gabaldon's Youtube page.  Look under "Favorites" and "Book Review Videos".

  1. I saw the Utube discussion! Are you the blond with the STRAIGHT hair sitting w/Tracy? I thought you were a curly girl? Do we have chat tonight? I'd love to join in.

  5. Sal--we are mos def chating at 9 EST. Carol is furiously reading so hopefully we can discuss farther than C68.

Oh, and I think Carol straightened her hair for that video where she, Shannon, and Jenn are at my house. I, on the other hand, was OWNING my curls... ;-)

  6. I gave up on my curls 10 years ago!! My hairdresser said I never "embraced my inner curl". Its true. When I was a kid, I used to dream about straight flowing hair!

  7. Sal--I think this link will get you the youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/noracoombs

LOL--did you do the "pretend a towel is your long straight flowing locks" thing too? I totally did. I actually blew my hair straight through most of high school/college, but finally gave up and let the curls do their thing. The invention of great product for curly hair helped a lot!

  8. I straighten every once in a while and yes, Sally, that was me. I can only straighten in the winter; too humid in the summer.

We will be making another video soon - especially now that we have been privileged with a mention on the youtube channel of Herself!!

  15. So excited for you guys! As much as I love your site, I haven't even discovered your YouTube feed yet! Can't wait to check it out. I feel like DG would LOVE the enthusiasm you guys have! So thrilling!
Also, sorry about the courses. At least, less horrible now than the 1700s rags and pins combo. Shudder.

  17. Thanks so much, guys! The basement is coming along. Pumped out all the water - pulled up the rug (it was made of pretty ugly carpet tiles so I was not sad to see it go). Threw out lots of kiddie toys that should have been been tossed long ago (although I wish we could have donated them instead) so now it's back to square one.

I'm telling you, Tracey, Claire probably had that covered back in Outlander. It's just "assumed". ;)
