OUTLANDER CHAT

SPOILER ALERT: Dinna read unless you have read a good chunk of The Fiery Cross.

Thanks so much to everyone who came to the chat! We had a blast and I am really looking forward to doing it again!

We discussed so many things... from Lord John Grey and Jamie's "proposal" in "Voyager"...  to Bree and her super-human powers of design... to what products Jamie Fraser would be totally freaked out about in the 21st century! (My vote is for tanning cream. Absolutely!!)

I'm sorry we missed those of you who weren't able to come... and I want to let you know we will be working on some different times for chats so everyone can participate - even if your time zone is nowhere near mine!

And lastly, a big THANKS to Laura from The Outlander Book Club for sharing all of her tremendous Outlander and Diana Gabaldon knowledge with us tonight!

  2. Carol,
I just wanted to let you know that I am LOVING reading your Blog. I have read The Outlander Series a few times through and am really enjoying "reading" it again through your enthusiastic posts. I am excited for those of you that still have new DG to read. I wanted to participate in your live chat but am afraid that I may inadvertedly mention something you don't already know.
For now, I will enjoy your new blog postings and ring my hands in anticipation for you all!

  3. LOVED the chat tonight!

Here is the link to DG's comment on CS in re Jamie's offer to Lord John:

If you stick with just the first 3 posts on the page you will not encounter spoilers.

(Can someone point me towards a tutorial for posting hyperlinks?)

Theresa you are SO cool to say such nice things - THANK YOU! And you are verra sweet for being so considerate of the spoiler thing. No worries - come to the next chat. We keep it pretty on track.

Laura - it was so great chatting with you! Thanks for the link and I'll snoop around and find out how to link in the comments! :)

  6. Agreed--fantastic time last night! It was so fun to share our opinions on all the happenings in the book. Now Carol, get cracking and read--you need to be at least 1/2way through for next week! ;-)

  7. Laura--just read the DG explanation--most definitely makes sense. Good to know that a possible acceptance of the offer itself was not what Jamie would have considered dishonorable--the idea of that was what had really bugged me about the explanation...

  8. Yeah I know, Tracey. I have to go read. Please no one get upset if I'm not responding to comments right now! MUST R-E-A-D!!! :)

  10. No problem, Sue!! I am way in over my head with Outlander. I woke up at 2:30 in the morning and was dreaming about Claire. I live it. It's almost sad. LOL!

  11. Carol - I totally hear you. I was driving to work today and thinking: I wonder if there is a day that goes by that I don't think about Jamie and Claire. I don't think so. Even asking myself that question got me thinking about the series - and that was only 7:30 in the morning!

  12. To post a link in a comment, you have to use HTML syntax, like this:

    <a href="http://outlandishobservations.blogspot.com">This links to my blog<\a>

Preview it first, to make sure it works. It should show up like this:

Theresa, it's nice to see another Compuserve member who's found this site!

Carol and Tracey, I do hope you'll come join in the discussions on Compuserve once you've finished ABOSAA and ECHO. Hurry up and keep reading, will ya? :-)

  13. Oops...there's a typo in the above. The end tag should be </a> and not <\a>.

So Carol, don't leave us in suspense, have you read any further in ABOSAA this week??

  14. LOL Karen--I think we scared Carol off in our demands that she get busy reading! Oh, and canna WAIT to hit the compuserve message board after Echo is done.

BTW, can you do me a favor and visit the Fergalicious post comments? I am now COMPLETELY obsessing about the Claire/Frank continuity snafu and MUST know what DG has said about it (if anything). Thanks for saving my sanity!

  15. I just responded in the Fergalicious thread. Sorry, I had no idea you were looking for me! Next time send me an email or drop me a note on Facebook or something.

  16. Perhaps I am delusional but haven't we already seen Roger and Bree before where they were played by other actors. Bree was played by a much taller young lady with bright red hair who looked a lot more like the description of Breanne in the book and looked a lot more like Jamie and was much more physically imposing. Roger was played by a dumpy man who was not nearly attractive as the new Roger. Also Claire and Breanne were walking around a Scottish town in the rain and went into a tearoom. What is this Outlander Redux?
