Ron Moore to Adapt "Outlander" novels into Cable TV Series!

Ron Moore Outlander TV Series
Check out this article from DEADLINE TV:

Nellie AndreevaEXCLUSIVESony Pictures TV has closed a deal for the rights toOutlander, Diana Gabaldon’s bestselling fantasy/romance/adventure series of books. Battlestar Galacticadeveloper/executive producer Ron Moore will write the series adaptation, with Jim Kohlberg’s Story Mining and Supply Co producing. The project will be taken to cable networks this week.
The book series starts off in 1945 and follows Claire, an engaged WWII combat nurse who accidentally steps back in time to the Scottish Highlands of 1743. Catapulted without warning into the intrigues of lairds and spies that send her on the run and threaten her life she is forced to marry Jamie, a gallant and passionate young Scots warrior, igniting a passionate love so absolute that Claire becomes a woman torn between fidelity and desire… and between two vastly different men in two irreconcilable lives. The seven-book series has sold over 20 million copies. An eighth novel is slated to come out next year. The books have developed passionate fan following, with multiple companies running “Jamie and Claire” tours of Scotland, where they visit locations from the books.
For Moore, the project stems from his overall deal with Sony Pictures TV. Star Trek veteran Moore, repped by CAA, started his writing career on Next Generationand also spent five years on Deep Space Nine. He then served as co-executive producer/co-showrunner on the WB’s Roswell and as executive producer/showrunner on HBO’s Carnivale before segueing to Battlestar Galactica.

Thanks to Cari for texting me the news!!

  3. If you haven't watched battlestar galactica yet, give it a shot. My husband started watching it and I kept seeing bits and pieces and then I was addicted! It's nothing like outlander, but they did a really good job with the story and characters. :). So this is great news to me!

  5. Btw, I also want to comment on the fact that this article says that Claire is "engaged" and not married to Frank. People (on FB) have been pouncing on this to prove that the story will not be followed, but other articles that I have read today do not have this error. Therefore I think that this is a reflection of the article's author rather than Ron Moore himself.

    Carry on.

  8. *shifty eyes* I'm not sure about this. I have never wanted and not wanted anything so bad before. Casting on this is so huge. I decided to follow him on Twitter and he did say that he has been a fan of the books for years so at least he has read them. That is hopeful right?

Lets hope he puts Diana on speed dial and is not shy or too proud to call. Right? Right?

  9. A little concerned about the line "engaged WWII nurse", Part of the very conflict is that Claire is married, not just engaged. Breaking an engagement is one thing but marrying another man whilst still married is something else. I really really hope that they get it right!

  11. Diana wrote on CompuServe:

"Actually, Ron and his chief production assistant came out and spent a weekend (not an hour, not a day ) with me last month, discussing the books, the characters, various approaches, structural principles--i.e., where it might be best to break the content of a book for a season, an episode, etc.--the background from which I wrote the books, asked if I had any out-takes or background material written for any of the minor characters that might be useful, etc., etc. He'd read everything, including THE EXILE.

We got on _really_ well, and I'm entirely convinced that he'll handle the material as well as it can be done."

This really made me feel a lot better about the whole thing.

  12. Now if only they are brave enough to cast an unknown Scottish ginger in the role of Jamie.

    I have a candidate: http://www.castingcallpro.com/uk/file.php?uid=222419

Andrew is a friend of mine, and I think he could pull it off!

    1. EDDIE!

COOL WEBSITE!! There's a SEARCH! I love it! I've used nowcasting.com but not this!

Your friend Andrew is good! He's probably not my Jamie...but I'd definitely recommend him for a role in Outlander. I'll blog about him for you. :)
