Thee's Plans for the Future

SPOILER ALERT: Dinna read unless you've finished AN ECHO IN THE BONE.

OK - I read the last chapter again. I DEFINITELY missed that the Fergster has been hanging with Randall-Isaacs. Just WAIT until Uncle Jamie puts two and two together about THAT guy.

I am in the same place I was when I last read it. Wondering what Ian and Rachel will do in the future. BUT - I loved watching Ian fear he had lost... only to hear her say she loved him and that they'd work it out (in thee's lovely wolf language.) I was so completely flipping out the last time that I definitely read that chapter too fast.

What do YOU think will happen to Ian and Rachel?

  1. Hi Carol,

I think Ian and Rachel will get married and Rachel will be OK with getting kicked out of the Friends Meetings. There is no way Ian will give up killing people to be a friend and I don't see Ian getting yet another love interest in this series. I think that ship has sailed, no pun intended. Its kind ironic that Dottie is going to become a friend to be with Denny and Rachel will probably leave the "friends" to be with Ian. Maybe when she leaves the group she'll lose her "Thee" accent (Probably not, wishful thinking!)

  2. I think Ian and Rachel will get married and she will leave the Friends and be okay with it. She'll become Claire's nurse/assistant if they all go back and live at the Ridge (hopefully everyone lives and is able to go back).

  3. As I was reading Echo, I kept thinking that Rachel reminded me of Claire in many ways. The way that most stood out in my mind was her forthright manner. Did anyone else get this connection, or is it just me?

  4. Theresa I totally did. But I have had a hard time with Rachel. I feel like I like her so much because she's so strong and stays true to her convictions - but I don't trust myself to like her because I trusted Malva for the same reasons - and look where that got me. NOT that Malva stayed true to her religion... but she was strong willed and willing to do a lot in the surgery with Claire to learn from her. Either way - Rachel did right by Ian - so I'm verra happy with her right now. :)

  5. PLEASE, OH PLEASE, OH PLEASE LET THEM GET MARRIED!!!! I think Rachel could be really good for Ian.

Interesting point about Rachel being like Claire. I think they are both true to what they believe to be right, not necessarily what convention says is right, but perhaps Rachel will now see that Ian kills out of necessity, not out of a debased, bloodthirsty desire for death. He did kill to protect her, after all :)
